Koinonia - Day TWO

I really lurve the verse Pastor Sam shared with the congregation that day:

"The Lord confides in those who fear Him."
Psalms 25:14

Confides - a beautiful term that implies the intimate sharing of personal secrets.
when I heard that I went like, "wow! I wanna know God's secrets and I want that fear in me to increase."

The fear of the Lord is a term we always pray and talk about. What then is truly the fear of the Lord? Simple reverence and awe of Him? Is it more? This article provides a simple understanding of what the term means. Time to go back to Packer's 'Knowing God'.

Pastor Sam went on teaching that God speaks through the various ways:
  1. Invitation (The time when we were all once told of the gospel and invited to be in the family of God.)
  2. Scripture
  3. Teachers
  4. Worship
  5. Convictions
  6. Burdens
  7. Promptings
Prophetic Encouragement: Love + Encouragement + scripture = Bull's eye!
"If your motive is love, your purpose is encouragement and your content is scriptural, then you can't miss!"

How gay can this be right? haaa.....

I like this pose so much, Jenn has to take one too. haaaa

And everyone says "aw...."

Koinonia - Day ONE

God just wanted me there! Was supposed to give this retreat a miss but God made it all possible. Received a call the day before the retreat and was asked to replace her. Isn't God awesome?! By no coincidence I am there at the retreat and I thank God I was there cos I heard Him. Heard Him regarding my destiny, my life and the things that were in my heart. Heard Him regarding truths. I have rested well during the whole retreat. Physically and of course spiritually.
Prayer Power Night
  • Be Contagious!
Day 01
  • "A Faith Can't Be Tested is a Faith Can't Be Trusted"
  • "People on Fire, Fight Fire with Fire"
  • "Set your eyes on the resurrection of Christ and not the crucifixion!"
My bunkmates: Edith and Phui See.
Thank you for always being so sacrificial and letting me have the room in the night to sleep. :)
I have enjoyed my time with you.

These are my desserts after dinner. Aren't they sweet.

KL Trip 07

Back from school's KL trip before heading to the I-Journey camp. The 8 hours of traveling to KL nearly killed me. However, it was also a good time spent thinking things through, reflecting about the past half a year and talking to God about the moments that took place in my life. Was also reading the book "Fearless" - talking about the fears and worries a woman has in her life. Am so determined to finish it during this hols.

They brought us to the "Eye of Malaysia" I nearly died too! We went round and round seeing...nothing. Argh!

They brought us to Putra Jaya. This place is quite scenic though, the lake is man-made and just behind me is where some minister lives. Or was it Raja? Hmmm can't rem.

I really like the waters though. Calming. Just reminds me of Dor's house in Perth. Where I would wake up to see a calming river every morning and worship.

They then brought us to this chocolate boutique that sells like loads of chocs but only ONE tasted nice. Kekee.... The durian choc one does taste unusual and SeDAP.

The final stop before heading home was this organic Dragon Fruit Farm. One thing I really like about it is that there were NO DOGs *phiew* We were all holding this Dragon Fruit Popsicle. Delicious!

Another 6 hours coach ride.....

Liqin's Wedding 190507

19th May was Liqin's big day. Missed the first walk-in but managed to rush there in time for the second walk-in as they were pronounced husband and wife. :) It was so nice to see all the old friends in GB. Kind of miss GB when I saw the girls helping out in the wedding. I recalled the times when I was a GB girl, learning marching, outdoor cooking, canoeing... that was so much fun. Remembering those National and Company camps that I went through with Zhen and Liqin, cuddling together when we were like how disgustingly sweaty... yucks but I like.!!!! haaaa

Life is really like a little mist. In a blink of an eye, we've known each other for 14 years. Liqin, I pray that your new life journey with Edison will forever be exciting and that you guys will always live in a growing marriage. Growing to know more about each other, accepting each other and loving each other. Importantly, may you both spur each other on to love and good deeds. :) Continue to shine forth as a couple for Jesus! Oh Yeah!!!! Amen.

Look @ how funky this girl looked even on her day of wedding. haaaa. :)

What were the hand signs for? *puzzled*

Zhen and I. We took countless pictures. Miss you pal. :)

I- Journey

Just got back from the I-Journey Camp with Class 1N1. Few weeks back, Pastor asked me if I could make it for the camp. I thought I would have prob cos its the first week of Hols. But God made it possible. Supposed to bring a pupil for a competition briefing but my co CCA teacher volunteered to take her and that freed me to go for the camp.

I went there not knowing what I was suppose to do (as in specifically) and whom I was going to meet but it was enjoyable after all. We took only one Normal Tech class to Changi Fairy Point Chalet 6. This class of sec ones is really rowdy but they are definitely fun people to hang around. People without pretense. Genuine. Real. I like. :) Was really tired throughout the camp since I went the very next day after the KL trip. However, I did learn a couple of things as I sat through Kenneth Kwan's session. I brought home some learning points.

1. No one can deny you of anything. Only you.
Sometimes I guess our greatest enemy is ourselves. We don't believe in ourselves strong enough to see our desires, ambitions and visions come to past. If God's plan is to prosper and not to harm, to give us a future and a hope, then really, no one can deny us of anything. No one but ourselves.

2. The Only Failure is the Failure to Participate.
How do we know we would fail if we don't even try? How do we know we would not succeed if we don't even take the first step? When I was digesting this, I just felt that self esteem is the main killer to anyone's willingness to participate in anything. Fear to try, fear to make a boo-boo in life, fear to being laughed @....etc. However, if we are secure in Christ, would we need to fear failure? Our confidence should not be in ourselves, who we are and what we are capable of rather, our confidence is in Him who can do exceedingly, abundantly above all else in us. :) We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us.

3. For Things to Change, We Must First Change.
If we want better grades, we must first change to be diligent.
If we want a closer walk with God and living an empowered life, we need to change.
I need to change to be more conscientious in my reading of the word of God and consciously applying them in my life. You?

The PSL aka Peer Support Leaders are really a bunch of cool people. I must say that Lester, Kunjie and Kenneth Yeo did a fantastic job in breaking ice with them and making them feel really comfortable with them. :) Great job guys.

Lester: I lurve the way you joked, played and laughed with them. Maturity was displayed when you commented about having the PSLs sit with their members during the sessions. I was very impressed. :) Saw how you corrected the boy who used vulgarity at me with love and firmness. Very well done. :) ZHANG DA Le.

Kunjie: Thanks for sharing with me in the camp. Through it, I saw your love for the ministry and the youths in church. I saw the passion and I listened with delight. Spread forth your fire man. It is going to be contagious! Oh yea. Btw, I knew its not easy leading 5BX this morning to a group of nearly 100% unresponsive and tired youths but I must say you did well. Rather brilliant use of the exercises and tie them in with the lessons learned yesterday. :)

Kenneth Yeo: You simply attracts little boys hor? Haaa So enjoyable seeing the little ones clinging on to you and climbing all over you. This shows that they like you. Saw how you helped in the cleaning of the rubbish when no one sees and also how you simply invest time into the lives of the Sec ones and the PSLs. Commendable. During the camp and of course the KFC lunch, I must congratulate you that your efforts have paid off. :) Keep it uppity up!

KFC after a camp is just simply luxurious!!! haaa.

L to R: Lester (Birdie? HIAKHIAKHIAK), Kunjie, Kimura,
Erwin(Cuixian deemed as JEREMY TOH look-a-like) and Hakim.

L to R: Ee hong (as we all agreed, he is a Bradley Lam look-a-like), Sabrina, Daphne,
Qi Zheng & Kenneth Yeo.

Just when its my turn to take a picture.... LESTER!!! ARGH!!! K-bish.

Second take. LESTER!!! HOW COME THE HEAD IS STILL THERE?? AH!

Third take. How come have a thumb? KENNETH!!!!! K-bish bish!!! Give up!
L to R: Me, Win (Lester so felt that he is a Jeremy Lim Look-a-like) and of course Cui Cui. :)

I was bored @ some points of the camp. But generally enjoyable cos I was handling people. :) Looking forward to the next meet up at the Thanksgiving Dinner. :) YEah!

I felt so loved....

The past week is crazy but I felt crazily loved too... thanks all for the smses, prayers, calls and meet ups. I really appreciate it. COS I FELT SO LOVED. :) Especially all the smses with prayers I am going to take some time reading them while heading to KL with my school.

200507.
All these people in the picture made time for me despite their exams, prep for mission trips and of course tiring week from work. I felt so blessed. Thank you guys. :)

230507.
Awfully Chocolate Cake + HEI ice cream is just totally Sinful.
But How could anyone resist?
My colleagues threw me a surprise 'party'. They indeed surprised me with my favourite HEI ice cream. Not a scoop but a PINT. GOSH!!!! It was a hard day but they brightened it. :)

Met up with CX and Regina for mentoring too. Good sharing though time was short. Ended up @ Haagen for my usual and it was just so satisfying.

240507.

Jie came home specially to cut cake and had dinner with the family. I was very touched. Kor came home just in time to take a family pic. I was very moved by Kor's sms on Wednesday. Today, when everyone crowd around me and sang me my birthday song, I really felt like the baby in the family. I felt so doted upon and so cherished.

"Happy Birthday 2 u, may all ur dreams come true. 2 my dearest sister, Suhui." - Kor Kor

Wah I really felt very loved. Who am I to deserve such favor and love? I thank God most of all for bringing these people into my life. Especially my family - one which I love and treasure most; one that loves me and treasures me most.

Labour Day.

Grace Mini Olympic!!! Yeee HA! The event of the century. Thinking about it, I don't think Grace will organise another one as such in years to come. Dragged myself there cos there were quite a bit of work to complete but went despite all that cos my CMs and SEC ones were there. No regrets cos it was a great bonding time. :)

Actually 1 regret - Regretted not bringing my camera cos we had this whole group of us rushing to the ice cream man buying ice cream!!! haaa Come on! Its ice cream, how could I resist. In a nutshell, I did enjoy myself cos I get to catch up with people i have not seen for a long long time. Peifoong was one of them. Short conversation though but I guess its good to catch up on the friendship. Saw a couple of our youths' parents and of course played much with
The TWO ULTIMATELY cute but ENERGY draining Carissa and Annabel Yow. What a day! But it was truly enjoyable as I saw how our youths truly have the sportsmanship of playing fairly and of course with excellence. I think that was truly commendable.

Darren took this pic for Van and I. But look! So many people were looking at the camera. Haa.. Darren had to highlight us! :) Thanks Darren.

Wished Tiffany was a little much bigger in this pic.
BUT WOah I lurve this pic. I think its one of those pics that I looked super good in. Hmm.. but then again, I guess there are just few or nearly none that I dun look good in them Haa.

By His Wounds.

Isaiah 53:5

He was pierced for our transgressions
He was crushed for our sins
The punishment that brought us peace was upon Him
And by His wounds, by His wounds we are healed

He was pierced for our transgressions
He was crushed for our sins
The punishment that brought us peace was upon Him
And by His wounds, by His wounds we are healed

We are healed by Your sacrifice
And the life that You gave
We are healed for You paid the price
By Your grace we are saved
We are saved

He was pierced for our transgressions
And crushed for our sins
The punishment that brought us peace was upon Him
And by His wounds, by His wounds we are healed

We are healed by Your sacrifice
And the life that You gave
We are healed for You paid the price
By Your grace we are saved
We are saved

He was pierced for our transgressions
He was crushed for our sins
The punishment that brought us peace was upon Him
And by His wounds, by His wounds we are healed
And by His wounds, by His wounds

What can wash away my sin?
Nothing but the blood of Jesus

Honey to my mouth...

I met Audrey for our second follow up lesson today. On the outward, there was nothing spectacular about today's meet, nothing mind blowing; I would say its norm. However, on the inside of me, there was a stir. As I was teaching Audrey the basics to Christian living, I benefited so much from it. I gained new insights to the verses that I had constantly quoted in my prayers and even to new believers. I would say its RHEMA. I saw the light to "when we anyone is joined with Christ, he is a new being; the old is gone and the new has come" (2 Cor 5:17). For years, it was a head knowledge, today it was unscripted in my heart. "When anyone is joined with Christ" we are 'together' with Him. That union brought forth so much privileges:-

1. An abundant life
2. Freedom from the bondage of sin. We could now say 'NO' to temptation.
3. Co heir with Jesus and heir of God. WOW! What riches we have!!!
4. We are made new; brand new beginning with God. Brand new life. True living.
5. Christ lives in us cos now we are ONE with HIM. We are joined together.
Just recalling from the book of Romans that says "...NOTHING can separate us from the LOVE of God." NOTHING!

All these were running in my head when we were discussing about the verse this morning. It was really like honey to my mouth. It tasted so good. Yummy.

As I was teaching, I recalled how I would feed this neighbor of mine when he was a baby and I felt like eating his porridge cos it seemed so good, he was savoring every bit of it. I didn't of course! In case some of you might guess otherwise. Today, I felt the same as I was 'feeding' Audrey with the word of God. It seemed so tasty as I was giving it to her. I was just glad that the Lord has prepared for me a portion of what Audrey had. The word of GOD. Yummy.

Cheryl was in this position for the good whole minute... er. YES! We din get any of it right! ha.. But it was a good try! She definitely improved as the game went on.
Eh? How come Keith point at the camera but eyes looking somewhere else? What went wrong with the coordination? Haaa :)

Everyone needs a Pat on their shoulders.

Recently my lappy crashed. Lost all my data and yup ALL. Went to Funan to pick up my empty shell on Sunday. I was super tired. I was just the 5th in line but I had to wait for 1hour 15mins before I could see my lappy after the week's separation. Because of that wait, I met this mid-fifties lady who was sitting beside me. She was the 6th in line. We exchanged a few smiles and I soon began a conversation with her. She told me she was picking up her daughter's lap top and that she was a widow. She went on to share how she single-handedly brought up her seven children ever since her husband's death 12 years back. Her youngest being 12 years old now, she said life is very much better now and she thanked God for it.

" I was a dad in the night cos I had to work night shifts and a mum in the day..."

Aunty told me that with tears in her eyes. I told her that she is one amazing woman. I couldn't imagine how life was like for her when her children were all still young and solely dependent on her for money, love, care, companion, support etc...

I could not help but to put my arms around her and told her how brave and strong she was.

I then, collected my lap top and initially wanted to take a cab home but the wait for just too painful. After 30mins, I decided to walk to the train station and head home on a MRT. As the train reached Tiong Bahru, a young couple got in with their two really lovely kids. I would say one was about 2 half and the other 4. As soon as the mother settled down in her seat, both the parents got to work. They brought out the milk bottles and started making dinner for the young one. After which , dad settled the older one down as she was getting impatient while waiting for her share. They alighted at Clementi and throughout that short 20 over minutes, they did a whole bunch of amazing things. They fed them, changed them, coaxed them and even taught them. WOW!

With these 2 pictures that the Lord had shown me, I can't help but to think of a couple of parents in our church who really needed an encouragement as they were handling tough kids. I mean, its already tough bringing up those who are normal so what more to say those who are autistic, ADHD etc. I gave thanks for parents of such who really love their children for who they are. They braved the storms and risked their lives for their own children. I salute them.

When I reached home, Dad heated up the soup for my hungry stomach and I can;t help but to share with him all that had happened to me as I made my trip home. Dad listened attentively and I told him how I appreciated both mummy and him for looking after all of us these years. Dad just smiled. :)

Has anyone told you that your parents are parents for the first time? Do give them a pat on their shoulders for who you are today. :)

My Pride.

Heard of the Nursery Rhyme, Teddy Bear Teddy Bear? Do allow my sweetie pies and sugar rocks to present to you if you have yet heard of it. :) They presented this during assembly 2 weeks ago but the teacher who videoed the clip has yet given me the video and I suppose it won't possibly land in my hands any time soon. So here's the second take which I took in class today. They forgot a little and seemed a little unsure but personally I think its just so good! Call it BIAS! I will spell that with a capital B. Ha:)

Charming Little Drummer Boy.

Yesterday Van and I had lunch and we had KFC!!! Let me shout it again. K.F.C! Ooooo! Not that its really fantastic but its delayed gratification man cos I have been so craving for it since last week. With the long wait, it became a 'no-matter-what, I-am-going-to-eat-it food'.

As we walked down paragon, I met my little charming drummer boy --- > Ethan Ong, 7. This boy is totally brilliant. He plays all that by hearing you know. GOSH! Talk about a prodigy. I think God has really blessed him with much great gift. When I asked him about it, he replied with a definite 'YES!'
Brilliant people somehow just fascinates me. Especially those brilliant and humble sort. Yup Ethan - the brilliant and humble sort.

Asked to take a picture with him, he agreed almost immediately. How humble right? :) Then again how to resist? Take picture with such a pretty Jie Jie *grins*

If you have yet watched this Singapore Youngest Busker perform, head down to Paragon one of these sunday afternoons and you would be as awed as me. :)

Ethan Ong,
an ordinary boy with an extraordinary gift,
who believes in an extraordinary God - Jesus.

Happy Chinese New Year.

Yesterday marked the best day of my Chinese New Year as I slogged the whole day in the Kitchen. Absolutely Tiring But its so WORTH IT to be the Mariah for the day. Mum and Dad were happy and I guess thats the very key reason why I was. Who cares about the tonnes and tonnes of plates to be washed?
(Thank God for Jie and Gina who helped!
How can a household ever live without women??
Men out there... give thanks for your ma, por por, jie and meis)

So where was I? Right! The dinner! The guests really brought so much joy. Jie and BIL came together with Uncle Alan and Aunt Esther (JIE's PILs), Por Por (Jie's G.MIL) and Gina, Alvin and their handsome boy BABY... oops I meant Ryan. Having 11 people around the table was really a little squeezy but its just so cozy and the soup was just exceptionally sweet and savoury. Lao YuShengING was another exciting time

*PILs = Parents in Law
G.MIL = Grandma in Law

*Drum ROLLs* Allow me to present to you BABY.. Oops! I meant Ryan ONG! Aiyah its so difficult to call him by his name cos I am just so used to calling him Baby. But for the sake of his identity and esteem, Ryan, it shall be. :)

This boy is so special to me cos I babysitted him when he was a baby. Cleaned his poo, showered him, fed him, brought him out for walks on strollers, played blowing bubbles, sang lullabys yah de yah de yah de... just a special kind of connection. Love him to bits. Wah feel a little teary talking about this. SHALL STOP! haa. Now he is in Primary 2. How times fly. *sigh

Dear Lord, I pray that Ryan will grow up knowing you. He will grow in wisdom and in stature. Teach him and guide him in paths of righteousness that he will have a faith that could move mountains and and an unshakable faith in You, in time to come. Place within him a seed faith that one day it might sprout fruit of his salvation. In Jesus name Amen.

Steven.

After recess while walking back to class:

Iman: Miss Sim, just now the big boys bully us!
Soowei: What did they do? They beat you? Scolded you?
Haziq: They called us PIGs!

Steven overheard, he placed his hands on Haziq's shoulder: But, we love to eat pigs!

Both Haziq and Iman stared blankly at Steven.

Steven: Really!!

Steven was trying to be kind and comforting but I guessed he had just rubbed salt to the wound unintentionally. Haaa kids. Didn't I just tell you that I am teaching the most wonderful kids in the world? :)

Probability.

Soowei:
Dear God, please send us a cab that will take all 5 of us. Amen.
Cab Uncle: 好!上车!

What's the probability of a cab uncle willing to take 5 people and earn that couple of dollars @ the risk of a fine?
Low.

What's the probability of praying for a cab uncle to be willing to take 5 people and having it answered?
High!
What's the probability of having the taxi uncle to be a non believer and yet been to Grace Assembly before?
Low.

What's the probability of this uncle coming to know Jesus soon?
Jesus I am sure you will make it all possible in your timing. Amen.

With God all things are possible! :)

Sing a Ding Ding and Learn Vowels.

A great site to teach vowels. Or say, a trigger? Am sure the children would LURve it.
Technically, when 2 vowels come together they are usually what we call a long vowel or a diphthong but I guess to children we should just simplify. :)

Ng Kian Tat.

Scene One - Social Studies lesson.
"Draw what comes to your mind when you think of Chinese New Year"

Soowei:
Kian tat, your classmates are already colouring may I know why you are still not drawing anything?

Kian Tat (in a real serious tone): I am thinking!

Soowei: Erm right. Do you mind thinking a little faster cos you have been thinking for the past 20 mins.

Just before the bell rings, Kian Tat had his sudden inspiration but he still drew atrociously. sigh

Scene Two - During English Lesson when everyone is supposed to hand in their worksheets

Reported by grp leader that Ng Kian Tat did not bring his worksheet and when I checked, I found his worksheet underneath his table - UNDONE!!! Whats worse? Practice 12, 14 and 17 were there too. At that moment....Soowei RRrrrrrrrOARed

Soowei:
Kian Tat, bring me to your mummy after school. You are staying back!

Kian Tat Remained Dreaming....

Scene Three - At school gate with mum

Soowei:
So, Kian Tat give me one good reason why you don't like to do homework.

For a good 1 minute he remained motionless

Mum: 快点跟老师讲!!

Kian Tat:
我还在想!!!

I nearly fainted...

I Wish....

This week, we are on the topic of "I wish..." for English and I got the children tp journal about what they would like to wish for. Here are a couple of my favorites:

By: Boon Ching, 8 Yrs Old
One of my Xiao Fei feis
He wished to be a rock star.
I told him that I would be there at his concert when he has one. :)

By: Anelka Bredan Tan, 8 Years Old
One of the dreamers and jokers in class
He said, "I wish you a merry Christmas...yade yade yade and a Happy new Year"
I wished him the same and mentioned that its rather early for one.
Haa introduced to him the term "December".
