Just got back from the I-Journey Camp with Class 1N1. Few weeks back, Pastor asked me if I could make it for the camp. I thought I would have prob cos its the first week of Hols. But God made it possible. Supposed to bring a pupil for a competition briefing but my co CCA teacher volunteered to take her and that freed me to go for the camp.
I went there not knowing what I was suppose to do (as in specifically) and whom I was going to meet but it was enjoyable after all. We took only one Normal Tech class to Changi Fairy Point Chalet 6. This class of sec ones is really rowdy but they are definitely fun people to hang around. People without pretense. Genuine. Real. I like. :) Was really tired throughout the camp since I went the very next day after the KL trip. However, I did learn a couple of things as I sat through Kenneth Kwan's session. I brought home some learning points.

1. No one can deny you of anything. Only you.
Sometimes I guess our greatest enemy is ourselves. We don't believe in ourselves strong enough to see our desires, ambitions and visions come to past. If God's plan is to prosper and not to harm, to give us a future and a hope, then really, no one can deny us of anything. No one but ourselves.
2. The Only Failure is the Failure to Participate.
How do we know we would fail if we don't even try? How do we know we would not succeed if we don't even take the first step? When I was digesting this, I just felt that self esteem is the main killer to anyone's willingness to participate in anything. Fear to try, fear to make a boo-boo in life, fear to being laughed @....etc. However, if we are secure in Christ, would we need to fear failure? Our confidence should not be in ourselves, who we are and what we are capable of rather, our confidence is in Him who can do exceedingly, abundantly above all else in us. :) We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us.
3. For Things to Change, We Must First Change.
If we want better grades, we must first change to be diligent.
If we want a closer walk with God and living an empowered life, we need to change.
I need to change to be more conscientious in my reading of the word of God and consciously applying them in my life. You?
The PSL aka Peer Support Leaders are really a bunch of cool people. I must say that Lester, Kunjie and Kenneth Yeo did a fantastic job in breaking ice with them and making them feel really comfortable with them. :) Great job guys.
Lester: I lurve the way you joked, played and laughed with them. Maturity was displayed when you commented about having the PSLs sit with their members during the sessions. I was very impressed. :) Saw how you corrected the boy who used vulgarity at me with love and firmness. Very well done. :) ZHANG DA Le.
Kunjie: Thanks for sharing with me in the camp. Through it, I saw your love for the ministry and the youths in church. I saw the passion and I listened with delight. Spread forth your fire man. It is going to be contagious! Oh yea. Btw, I knew its not easy leading 5BX this morning to a group of nearly 100% unresponsive and tired youths but I must say you did well. Rather brilliant use of the exercises and tie them in with the lessons learned yesterday. :)
Kenneth Yeo: You simply attracts little boys hor? Haaa So enjoyable seeing the little ones clinging on to you and climbing all over you. This shows that they like you. Saw how you helped in the cleaning of the rubbish when no one sees and also how you simply invest time into the lives of the Sec ones and the PSLs. Commendable. During the camp and of course the KFC lunch, I must congratulate you that your efforts have paid off. :) Keep it uppity up!
